    A Word from our President...

This year's Holiday Auction was so much fun and very successful. I want to say, "Thank You" to Tammy Foley for putting together such a great event. I also want to thank all of you who joined us in raising money for such a great cause, The Cary Home for Girls.

As business owners, this is the time of year we reflect on the last year and ask ourselves, "Did I reach my goals?, What worked in my business and what didn't?" We are setting our goals, budgets, and plans for our business for the upcoming year. I am excited to say there are some great programs lined up to get our year off to a great start.

Wishing you all a great 2012!
    - Julie Rubsam

    About the Holiday Auction...

The Holiday Auction and Raffle was held at the MCL Cafeteria on December 13th, 2011. Once again, the business owners of our community and our very own AWBO ladies contributed with wonderful generosity and support! The gifts for the auction were amazing - from Jewelry, Birthday Party Certificates, Flower Arrangements and Dinner Gift Certificates, just to name a few. Attendance this year brought many guests that were welcomed to share our festivities. It is my pleasure pleasure to share the news that approximately $2,500 was raised for Cary Home for Girls! I wish to thank Julie Rubsam, Susan Benedict, Chris Myers and Melany Ramsey for your dedication in helping me with the event and being my "Go To People! HATS OFF to all of the AWBO ladies for supporting our event - donating, bringing guests and spending your money! The love I have for AWBO have been validated with great women who give from the heart wanting nothing in return. Hope your holiday was safe and full of fun and laughter!

    - Tammy Foley, Auction Chair and President Elect

    A Word from our President...

Hello! November is going to be an amazing month! Our program this month will unveil our NEW Association of Women Business Owner’s website.

In addition to our NEW Website, Michael Dick from IS Photographic (www.ISphotographic.com) will be joining us to take head shots. The cost is just $25 and at Michael’s suggestion we are collecting the money to support a Women Business Owner through Kiva.org!  Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.  We will be voting as a group to decide the recipient of the loan. Feel free to look online at Kiva.org to see if there is a women you would like to nominate for the loan.  Send your nominations to me at julie@LafayettePC.com.

Michael is going to try to accommodate everyone who would like a head shot taken. He will be available from 11:00 -12:00pm and 1:00-2:00pm.  This means he has enough openings for around 12 people.  If you would like to reserve your spot, please send me and email with your preference for 11-12pm or 2-1pm. Space is limited, RSVP today at julie@LafayettePC.com.

I look forward to seeing everyone on November 8!

A Word from our New President...

As I enter my third year of serving on the Association of Women Business Owners board, I reflect on the journey that has brought me here.  Four years ago, I would not have conceived that I would be stepping into the roll as the President of AWBO. Though I am still at the beginning of my journey as a business owner, I feel privileged to have met, learned, and continue to learn from so many who have taken this journey before me. Joining the AWBO board in 2009, although I did not know it at the time, was a decision that has greatly shaped the business owner I have become.

I still remember my first AWBO meeting. At the time, several of you had already met and gotten to know my husband. In fact, it was through his contact with Bev Larson and Linda Irwin that I decided to attend the Association of Women Business Owners. The moment I walked into the room, Bev Larson sought me out and made me feel so welcomed, and for that I thank you!  While there were many other women that day that I met and spoke to, it is the kindness and excitement that Bev showed me that really made me want to be a member of this organization. It is my hope that each and every one of our members experiences the same kindness and excitement that Bev showed me that first day.

I feel honored to be able to follow in the footsteps of so many amazing women. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve all of you as the President of the Association of Women Business Owners. Another year in my journey has begun and I look forward to the lessons it will teach and the people it will bring into my life.

    Yours truly, Julie Rubsam

Olivia Sarault – “O” Goes Blue:
“It is with mixed emotions that I share with you that O-LIV Design will be closing. My decision was prompted by a great job offer from Blue Marketing in Crawfordsville, IN, where I have accepted the lead designer position. This position allows me to again focus on design within a collaborative environment, while also giving me flexibility to meet my family’s needs. I want to thank you for your business over the years. If not for your loyalty, O-LIV Design would not have experienced the success it has enjoyed.” - Olivia Sarault, Art Director, Blue Marketing -
