Association of Woman Business Owners since 1982

MISSION

Association of Women Business Owners is a supportive network of women business owners dedicated to providing relationship building, mentoring, encouragement and resources.

Vision

To be an organization providing an environment to develop and empower women business owners today and tomorrow.

Success

Today, AWBO enjoys the membership of over 100 women business owners. We meet monthly for programs, networking, exchanging information and supporting one another. And still today, AWBO is the only organization in Lafayette that is exclusively for women business owners.

Eligibility

Eligibility as written in the By-Laws:

Regular membership in the Corporation shall be open to any woman who has an ownership interest in any business or professional entity in which she is actively involved. Members may include women who work on commission and submit a Schedule C to the Internal Revenue Service.

Honorary Members shall be those women who the Membership chooses to honor because of the individual's service to the organization and its purposes. The organizations founders and retired Past President qualify as Honorary Members.

Associate Members shall be those women in positions that support and reflect the mission and purposes of the Corporation, even though they are not business owners. Associate Members are ex-officio and do not have voting rights. An AWBO member may nominate a woman as an Associate Member and a new application will be submitted each year for consideration for those wishing to join AWBO as an Associate Member. AWBO limits the total Associate Membership to 20% of the regular membership total annually. Dues for Associate Members will be 150% of active member’s dues for the year, and will be prorated on the number of months remaining in the fiscal year beginning with the month of Executive Board approval of the Associate Membership.

Regular Members may nominate Honorary Members and Associate Members, but the Executive Board approves such Membership status with a two-thirds vote. All regular and associate memberships shall terminate on September 30 of each fiscal year.
